With the extensive experience to service wind farm operators and other offshore clients, they developed a specific solution for offshore substations (OSS). It’s a complete end-to-end IT and OT architecture with embedded cybersecurity that’s fully NIS compliant. The solution OSS-in-a-box® unites all the hardware and software elements for an OSS in one box, literally a container.

Key Points

Challenge: e-BO Enterprises was looking for the best way to present the OSS-in-a-box concept to potential customers at trade shows and face-to-face meetings. Given its international operations, transporting the physical demo container is not always feasible. Furthermore, the solution should also validate configurations by customers.
Solution: A solution using virtual reality was chosen, with a configurator initially driven by a simple spreadsheet.
Approach: Together with the customer, the requirements were defined. Then, Cybernetic Walrus implemented the solution using the Scrum Agile framework.
Outcome: A virtual environment of the OSS-in-a-box® solution. The environment is configurable, based on an Excel, the type of container is chosen and the desired equipment is included in the environment.

Showcasing At Fairs

Visitors to trade shows can discover the OSS-in-a-box® concept via a VR headset. e-BO Enterprises doesn’t need to rely on physical movements of the demo-unit, which involves mobility challenges. The virtual product discovery stimulates interest and gives e-BO many more options to showcase innovations than before.

Every solution is unique and adapted to the customer’s needs. For this purpose, the VR environment is configurable. This gives the customer a clear picture of the expected solution, contributing to smoother communication and collaboration during the validation process.

Operational Management

In the next phase, e-BO Enterprises also plans to make operational management more efficient using this VR environment.
