“Live² chose Cybernetic Walrus because, despite being labelled a ‘start-up’ company, they combine a number of professional IT management competencies with software-based Virtual Reality expertise and graphical/creative qualities.”, says Wim Samyn, Live2 manager. “All parts of the project were delivered on time, within budget and according to the agreed specifications”.
Live2 is a Belgian start-up focusing on their own Live2Coach sports-related concept. It states that every ball sport uses “closed movement” techniques for its actions. A body’s muscle memory can retain posture and movement for these techniques after about 2,400 repetitions. But in a real life situation, with a sparring partner, achieving these 2,400 perfect actions takes a lot of time. However, Live2Coach researched that player can practice closed movements just as well without a ball.
These learnings resulted in the Live2Volleyball project. For Live2, we made a tool to speed up the volleyball learning process. The VR application features full body tracking, as well as comparisons of the player’s actions with a pro player’s. We also created a gorgeous environment around it, so trainers can optimize all outside conditions and influences for the practice session.

After the Volleyball Trainer, we also created a Soccer Trainer. Apart from straightforward exercises where you have to kick at a goal, we created a Space Invaders-like game where you have to destroy the incoming aliens using your soccer ball.

These are not the only training applications we made in VR. Check out VR KUUB!
