Mobile games for your business – Engaging customers with Augmented Reality
Why is this course useful?
Mobile games and Augmented Reality (AR) are a great way to market your product – not only are they more engaging and less invasive than regular ads since they demand user interaction, but they also provide a great way for you to track conversion rates and user behaviour.
Through the examples of his own projects, our Unity Certified Instructor will teach you how to create such applications from the ground, as well as share some best practices and some tips from his own experience. Participants of the course will learn how to build characters, scenes, animations, and game mechanics for mobile deployment of their game with Unity.
What will I learn?
Though the activities in this course, participants will:
- Learn how to build a mobile AR application in unity for Android and iOs.
- Learn how to show animated characters and objects in AR and create interactivity.
- Learn how to use the Unity analytics platform to track user engagement.

Why is this course useful?
Olivier is a former student of our CEO Mike and he has always wanted to make video games. With a developer background and already familiar with C# and Java, he tried to learn Unity on his own at first. He found that the online tutorials weren’t always easy to follow and often don’t provide the exact answers you are looking for.
‘’My impression is that these only give you a few bits and pieces,’’ he says. ‘’With the Unity training, you really get a general idea of what all the possibilities are. If you have any questions or come across any issues, you can always just ask the trainer. I had a great time and learned a lot taking this course!’’
Olivier has now released his own mobile game Spaaace for which he made everyhting on his own – from the 8-bit music to the artwork, he even recorded the pju-pju sounds with a mic himself! Read more about his story here.

Create breathtaking visuals with Unity
An in-depth workshop on using Cinemachine
This course is perfect for those who already have a foundational knowledge of Unity but would like to learn more about its high fidelity capabilities. Participants will create a futuristic racing game using assets created by us.
What will I learn?
With this course, you will:
- Get a brief refresher on key Unity terms and processes,
- Learn about detailed aspects of lighting settings, and how to work with Reflection probes,
- Create the game’s vehicle controller with Cinemachine,
- Work with the Post-Processing Stack and the new Post-Processing volumes to generate different lighting scenarios throughout the scene,
- Complete your project by creating an opening cutscene with Timeline, and a dynamic sound track with the Audio Mixer.
Why is this course useful?
By mastering Unity’s Cinemachine, you can create stunning cinematics for your game. In-game cinematics make visually mesmerising cut-scenes that pull the players into the story and give them a high quality experience. They can also be used as an efficient tool to market your game: GIFs made from cinematics stand out more on social media than regular images. They are also able to summarize your game in a few seconds and create more engagement than most other assets.
Activities during the course:
- Introduction: Learning Action Plan and course overview
- Developing a Scene
- Working with Lighting and Reflections
- Setting up the vehicle
- Working with Particles and Post Processing Effects
- Developing the opening cutscene
- Working with the Audio Mixer
- Conclusion: Updating your Learning Action Plan and next steps
Level: Beginner
Prerequisites: Prior experience with the Unity editor.

Revolutionary uses of VR – Discover the world of Virtual Reality
What will I learn?
In this intermediate level workshop, you will learn to get started in VR. Our Unity Certified Instructor will share best practices from his own VR projects, including the creation of a digital twin for the windmill farms of Rentel.
Subjects covered will also include:
- developing a basic VR game for PC/Mac/Console,
- optimization techniques,
- ergonomics,
- physics and audio for VR.
Why is this course useful?
VR is at the precipice of becoming a major platform. Not only is it becoming more prominent in game development, but with 5G gaining more ground it will soon be utilised in such areas as healthcare or education as well.
One of our projects is a perfect example: an offshore wind farm in the Belgian North Sea 40km from Ostend. As all power stations, this Rentel wind farm needs regular maintenance. However, sending a crew there is costly, has a high safety risk and can be quite difficult depending on weather conditions. To reduce costs and increase safety and efficiency of the offshore station operation, our team has been working on a digital twin of the physical offshore wind farm. Find out more about this project HERE.
Activities during the course:
- Introduction: Learning Action Plan and course overview
- Understanding VR
- Setting up the Project and enabling VR
- Implementing movement
- Implementing interactions: doors and buttons
- Creating a small experience
- Pausing and UI Interactions
- Conclusion: Updating your Learning Action Plan and next steps
Level: Intermediate
Prerequisites: Prior experience with the Unity editor.
Duration: 7-8 hours
The workshop requires both a headset and controllers, but there is a test script that will allow for in-editor development for participants who did not bring a VR headset with them
